Walter Woolfenden Crane Hire was based in Liverpool between the mid 1950's-1977 alot of the cranes were Lorains in origin with a few from British origin as well, Walter Woolfenden sold his company to Hewden Stuart. After a while started again and sold the second company to Aincough in the 1980's. Here are a few more pictures.

No problem Kerst, I guess this is where they belong really, Flickr was brilliant in getting the photo's out into the public domain, but the real crane enthusiasts are here

Hello Gruss
Yes I forgot you posted a few pictures on Flickr as well, I should have remembered because you have pictures in the Gottwald group that Ruud and I operate.
But there are not very many crane people on Flickr and there are very few people posting old archives, my real intrest is the old cranes from the 50's-80's, for the old pictures this is the best place to be

Walters machines were always called upon to complete a few strange lifts, on this occaision, it came to the aide of a double decker bus that had gone over the edge of a bridge

Most of the cranes in the Walter Woolfenden fleet were of American origin, the only British machines in his fleet were either Coles or Hydrocon, here are a couple of Hydrocon's
The first picture is a Hydrocon Hamilton and the second picture is a Hydrocon Highlander

Thank you everyone for your kind words, I will keep posting the photo's, Walter Woolfenden had a huge archive of pictures spanning many years, mainly from the mid 50's to the late 70's, covering all aspects of his company.
I will post them in no particular date order, but I will try and cover all aspects of Walters contracts,Thank you again.

Hallo,

Walter Woolfenden bought alot of his early cranes from the M.O.S.disposal auctions at Ruddington and Burtonwood, these cranes were mainly of American origin and were mostly Lorains, here are a few pictures.

One of the elements of the crane company that Walter Woolfenden ran was the publicity side of the business. Walter spent alot of money on photography, to be used in advertisments and calendars were produced every year.

Displaying his company and his machinery was also a very important part of advertising the crane company and Walter Woolfenden attended many plant shows.

Here are a few pictures of Walters machines , on display, or at plant shows.

Hello again
Walter had some amazing vehicles in his crane fleet, this was also true of the support vehicles that he used as well.
some were bought at auction in the same way that the early cranes were purchased. They were mainly a mix of British and American origin.
I hope you like these

A fast erecting 12 K tower crane on the Liebherr booth in the background.....very interesting. This crane was probably very rare in the UK.

Hi samin CZ, thank you for the message, I have just found it.I have had a look at your models, they are wonderful, with great detail
I have lots of pictures of these cranes in my photostream on Flickr but sadly no drawings. Do not worry as I will be able to find someone with the correct spec sheet for these cranes
I think this is the picture you talked about
The two cranes in this photo are the Lorain MC 530 on the left and the Lorain MC 824 on the right.

Here is another picture of the Lorain MC824, this side on photo clearly shows just how much front overhang these machines actually had.
On top of that they are virtually as wide as a coles Colossus and left hand drive as well. Quite a difficult machine to drive on British roads at that time.
