Självklart! Reicht eine Englischer Übersetzung?
Zitat: | Longer and heavier, but the hopes are, that the timber-trucks of tomorrow will use less fuel and release less carbon monoxide. Now the 30 meter long trucks will be tested during a 3 year period between Överkalix and SCA's sawmill in Munksund.
Today are the timber-trucks 24 meters long. They can carry three rows of timber. The new truck is 30 meters long and can carry four rows and was presented for the industry in Munksund on Tuesday. The project called ETT and is supported by Skogforsk, Vägverket, Volvo and the forest-industry and the hopes are very high. They talk about a revolutionary timber-truck, which will give major economical and environmental benefits. Two trucks will do the same as three of the current size. Timber-trucks have a major impact on the competition position and cost-benefit of the forest-industry. Our calculations show, that the truck can lower the carbon monoxide release and the costs by 20 – 25 %, says Jan Fryk, CO of Skogforsk, which is the forest-industry's own research institute.
Fuel and environment If the expectations are met it will result in savings measured in 100-million SEK. The environmental benefits are also substantial and according to Jan Fryk it is possible to fulfill the EU climate-demands in 2020. The environmentalist will surely mention the railroad, and 30 % of the total transport demands of SCA are covered by the railroad. But we also need timber-trucks. This new focus on heavier loads gives a lot of expectations, says Morgen Yngvesson, timber-manager at SCA Skog. The timber will be transported on conventional timber-trucks to a terminal in Överkalix where it will be offloaded and loaded to the new long truck, for the last transport to the sawmill in Munksund. A traffic-stopper on the road? It will take longer time to overtake it, but then the number of trucks will also be reduced. All-in-all it will have a positive effect on traffic-safety, says Lena Erixon, CO of Vägverket.
Roads and bridges The timber-trucks of today has a total weight of 60 ton, which should be compared to the 90 ton of the ETT-truck. A weight which can have an effect on roads and bridges. It should be possible. Since the truck has more axles, then the axle-loads are not much higher and the extra tear on the roads will be reduced. As stated previously: The hopes are high, and now the 30 meter trucks will be tested during the next three years. Skogforsk will study costs, production, fuel-consumption and environmental impact. Vägverket will study traffic-safety, tear on the roads and impact on bridges. |
